Project Overview

Gold has been mined for centuries in Vietnam. From the 1890′s to the 1950′s, the French were heavily involved in locating, developing and operating mines in the various regions of the country. Since then, the Vietnamese government has not allowed exploration work in the northern region until June 2009, when Strategic Mining’s Vietnamese partner secured the Nat Son exploration permit. The permit currently covers 40 hectares and is the process of being expanded to 99 hectares. The company has a unique opportunity to significantly increase historic gold production with the use of modern mining techniques, which have not been utilized for over 50 years.

The Nat Son exploration property is located in northern Vietnam approximately 50km SW of Hanoi in the center of the gold rich Kim Boi deposit. Exploration interest in the property is based on the presence of gold-silver bearing quartz-arsenopyrite veins which are exposed at surface and within rudimentary underground mine workings. The veins have been examined and studied over a strike length of 4.0 kilometres.

Three highly qualified geologists have completed separate assay programs at three independent laboratories and the results identified several large gold bearing veins. The assay results were consistently much higher than worldwide average for gold producing mines. Examples of geologically similar productive gold deposits in Asia include the world-class Natalka deposit in the Russian Far East (over 20 million oz gold), the Maoling deposit in NE China (800,000oz gold) and the Kolpatas and Daugyz deposits in Uzbekistan (over 1 million oz gold).
