Environmental Responsibility
Strategic Mining Corporation’s goal is to minimize our environmental footprint and safeguard the environment to ensure its well being for future generations.
While the presence of our mining operations may cause some disturbance in the existing natural environment, we take a precautionary approach throughout the life of a mine by first assessing potential effects, then evaluating how to avoid, lessen or control the impact. This includes putting into place environmental protection and environmental management systems that include advanced planning against possible future events.
Responsible environmental management at each of our operations helps us achieve our goals of protection and stewardship. To that end, we are committed to:
- Communicate this policy to those who work at an SMC site, their families, and the communities in which we operate.
- Establish and maintain an environmental management system.
- Ensure that contractors providing services or products to our sites adhere to our environmental policy and practices.
- Ensure that employees understand, support and maintain our environmental management system.
- Provide managers and supervisors with the resources necessary to implement our environmental management system, standards and practices.
- Set and review environmental objectives and targets aimed at continual improvement.
- Conduct reviews of our operations to monitor environmental performance.
- Comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations to minimize risks to health, safety and the environment.
- Work with local government and communities to ensure safe handling, use and disposal of all materials, resources and products.
